-How Susan’s frustration led to the creation of the DMOS shovel.
- What DMOS actually stands for - Its probably what you think it is, but you won’t know if you don’t tune in!
- When is a shovel not just a shovel - and how about when that shovel helps Olympians earn medals!
- What it's like to be judged by and work with some of the biggest figures in the aftermarket industry at SEMA.
Additionally Susan shares stories from her experiences in the Rebelle Rally and as an open ocean sailor. Join us for a great conversation about simplicity, colors, and making sure everything has a place, and everything is in its place.

This is part 2 of 2 of the Ham radio episode in where I pick Lewis Thompson’s brain, the VP of Austin’s Amateur Radio Club.
If you haven’t seen or heard part 1 yet, you should hit pause and go back and listen to it so you can better understand what we talk about in this episode: https://youtu.be/7itrR47jIFM.
Also I highly suggest you watch the YouTube version of this as well so you can see the equipment that Lewis brought: https://youtu.be/ydQLTZxfPM4.
In part 2, Lewis talks about the equipment needed from beginners all the way up to advance setups, what kind of gear he personally uses, if you can listen to first responder frequencies, if GMRS and HAM can communicate together, and even how a group of people try to listen to frequencies in the attempt to discover aliens.
You can find more information about the Austin Amatuer Radio Club on their website and the ARRL website.
For more information on the scholarship Lewis talked about, you can find more information here.

I’m super stoked to be able to be able to present a 2 part mini series all about HAM Radios.
Lewis Thompson, the VP of Austin Amateur Radio Club talks about everything you'd ever want to know about Ham radios and then some.
While you listen to part 1, you’ll learn all the different capabilities of the HAM Radio such as the ability to send email over radio frequencies, how and where you can study for the FCC exams to become licensed, how you to literally talk all the way to the other side of the world, how to best use repeaters for longer distance communication, and how you can even talk to astronauts out in space!
But the biggest thing that impressed me was the community that they’ve built throughout the nation and how licensed HAM Radio operators are actual everyday people who act not only professionally on the radio, but who also act as civil servants in times of distress.
Don't forget to listen to part 2 of this mini series, you're not going to want to miss it - Lewis talks about the equipment needed from beginners to advance setups, if you can listen to police and first responder frequencies, if GMRS and Ham can communicate together, how a group of people do try to listen to frequencies to try to discover aliens, and a bunch of other awesome information - so be sure not to miss the second part.
You can find more information about the Austin Amatuer Radio Club on their website and the ARRL website.
