Walking on the Sea
Moses led the Israelites through the sea. Jesus called Peter to walk on the sea. Thematically, one virtue binds these stories together and continually challenges believers. Face the challenge and discover what this virtue is by joining Pastor Jon in worship this weekend where he’ll share a special message based on Matthew 14:22-33.
Forty Days and Forty Nights
Like Moses, Jesus fasted for forty days and forty nights. Like the Israelites, Jesus faced temptations in the desert. Where others failed, Jesus overcame. This weekend in worship, discover how these truths impact your faith when Pastor Jon shares from Matthew 4:1-11.
Jesus fled to Egypt to avoid Herod's wrath. Moses, similarly, hid his Hebrew heritage to avoid Pharaoh's wrath. Both these two key figures in God's plan begin their lives in very vulnerable conditions. Join us in worship this weekend, where Pastor Jon will share what God might be revealing to us in Matthew 2:13-18!
As we exit the season of Christmas and look towards the New Year, we take a moment to contemplate the Incarnation of Christ. This weekend, Ryan Joslin, Director of Youth and Families, will preach on the prologue to the Gospel of John in hopes of exploring the magnitude of the Word becoming Flesh.
Lessons and Carols
The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is a service of Christian worship celebrating the birth of Jesus. The stories of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus are recounted through Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books, and the Gospels. Each reading is complemented with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns, and other music.
Fourteen Generations
The Gospel of Matthew goes out of its way to show that Jesus' genealogy is arranged into three sets of fourteen generations. This weekend in worship, Pastor Jon will share what this unique structure was intended to communicate
Asaph and Amos
In the second section of Matthew's genealogy, Matthew changed the names of two Kings. The gospel writer may have had good reasons to do so. Join us in worship this weekend, where Pastor Jon will explore why Matthew did this. Communion will be celebrated and new members will be joining StoneBridge at all three services.
Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and the wife of Urriah
Advent begins this weekend. Advent is the season in which we prepare for the coming of our Lord Jesus. This year, we will be looking at how the Gospel of Matthew prepared the early Christians for the birth of Jesus, through its genealogy. Though the genealogy may appear boring, Matthew puts some very unexpected surprises throughout. This week, Pastor Jon preaches on Matthew 1:1-6.
Look and See
Regrets from the past, busyness in the present, and insecurities about the future too often drain our spiritual well-being and undermine the practice of thanksgiving. Join StoneBridge in worship this weekend and be uplifted, inspired, and empowered to celebrate Thanksgiving with renewedenthusiasm. Pastor Jonathan will be sharing a special holiday message titled, Look and See based on Matthew 6:25-34.
