With creation complete, the Lord pauses to retell the story of creation in to allow the full impact of what just occurred to sink into our soul before we rush forward into the unfolding story of generations to come.  This chapter of first things establishes principles to govern our interaction with creation.

The word of God carries authority like no other. When God speaks, the matter is settled, and when He speaks, it is in as few words as necessary. God spoke 10 times in Genesis 1 and all of creation is formed in just 282 words. Perhaps what we are told of creation is the abridged edition but God did not need more words to describe His vision nor did He need more time to accomplish His creation. Even if God spoke great volumes man would not be any more inclined to believe that in the beginning God created.

A woman is like a tea bag, you never know how strong she is until she's in a little hot water.  "Virtue" is the exact same Hebrew word for "valor" - a strong, conquering, victorious person is the biblical mother.

In the beginning God... What was God doing before creation?  What was His intention for creation?  How does God interact with His creation.  Without God in he beginning we are left with speculation.

When life is removed from God, man imagines he knows better but Genesis 6:5 every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. A difficult message for troubling times.

His message from John 17 shares with us the prayer of Jesus calling his followers to be marked by the glory of God, unity, love and joy.  A calling not for the few but for all who trust in the name of Jesus, God’s Son.

Why do you suppose its such a big deal that men would spend their life and fortune to explore the heavens in search of life? Because they assume that life on other planets would help support the evolutionary theories regarding the origins of life.  Mankind will always find it discomforting to think that we are alone in the universe and that man alone is the focus of a creator God.
