The European Union has some issues regarding surveillance tech. We know, privacy is a big topic. Last Monday, the European Parliament announced that limits will be imposed on the export of surveillance technology.
Why? In an effort to restrict human rights violations using cyber surveillance and biometric surveillance tech. So any so-called “dual use goods” which is 2 in 1 software and technology goods, such as drones and high-performance computers. These products and technologies can be misused in order to violate civilians’ security and their human rights, among these the right to privacy and intimacy.
But what will these restrictions actually do?
