In this episode of Stop To Think we pick up where we left off in the last episode. We talk about exploitative relationships and how bad things can happen in your personal life when your incentives aren't in alignment with the people you have relationships with. 

In this episode of Stop To Think we start a series on incentive structures. There's a saying "If you want to get the truth, follow the money." and that's more or less what inspired this series. In this first episode, we talk about how people are generally self-interested. If you keep that in mind, friendships, marriage, and relationships, in general, tend to follow certain kinds of patterns. 

In this episode of Stop To Think we talk about whether people are fundamentally good, bad, or neutral. Specifically, I tie this to how it affects your life through your expectations. If you expect people to be good and they're not, you'll be disappointed. If you expect people to be bad and they're good, then you'll be positively surprised. Like usual, the balance is somewhere in between probably but I personally prefer to stick with viewing people as having an evil nature and having to fight to be good. 

In this episode of Stop To Think we get into a bit of philosophy. We consider how it's not really possible to live every day like it's your last because the amount of time you have left determines how you live your life. Last day living is different than living with 40 years of life expectancy left. It's best to find a balance. 

In this episode of Stop To Think we talk about possible solutions that might help address the cost of healthcare and the inefficiencies in the tax system we're subjected to. For healthcare, possible solutions are price transparency, reconsidering regulations, and accelerating technological adaptation. For taxes, possible solutions are an in-house IRS tax filing system, simplifying the tax code, or adopting a cryptocurrency that automatically takes taxes out as needed when transactions occur. 

In this episode of Stop To Think we continue the rant series by complaining about the US healthcare system. Specifically, we talk about how it is a bit inefficient and what is causing this inefficiency. This basically comes down to regulation issues and a failure of the market because of regulations preventing it from working correctly.
