Stop trying to rescue them. It is a mistake to cling to someone when God is telling you to let them go. It may require letting them hit the bottom before they rise again. You remember the story of Jonah and the whale. Jonah's problem wasn’t that he didn't Love God, it was that he didn't want to do God's will. So, God resorted to extreme measures to get his attention and push him towards his destiny. Remember you have no idea what God has in mind for the person he is asking you to let go of.
