      • Growing up in Franco-Pondicherry, Ari experienced life between two cultures, constantly shifting identities.
      • Moving to France exposed an identity crisis, as he was perceived as Indian, despite having lived as French in Pondicherry.
      • These struggles with belonging and cultural duality deeply shaped the themes of his first book.

        • Academic interest in Ari Gautier’s work on Pondicherry and colonial history brought visibility to his French novel Lakshmi’s Secret Diary.
