Prior to beginning my journey in software development, I was working as Business Sales Consultant in the telecommunications field. I enjoyed the opportunity that telecommunications gave me to meet new people and solve complex problems while working in a team environment. I was introduced to software development by a family member and realized that the tech field would allow me to continue to utilize those skills, while also allowing me to grow in the field. This began my interest in software and has continued to to grow with every new type of technology I encounter.

Prior to becoming a software developer, I worked full time in distillation and brewing. Like software development, these careers rely on an attention to detail and ensuring all processes are accounted for in order to ensure everything works together seamlessly. I had been interested in software development since dipping my toes in basic website design during internships in college. I enjoy using both my creativity and problem solving skills to create useful tools. Immediately after beginning to learn Javascript basics, I was hooked. I love new challenges and never want to stop learning.

As a private chef, I spent 14 years building my career on the foundations of sustainable agriculture and social justice. I was raised in rural Alaska where instead of being educated I learned how to cook and tend a small-scale farm and with that learned ethos I always fed my clients the highest quality, most sustainable food possible. In 2019, I was looking for a way to migrate into the public sector and these interests led me towards the budding market of Environmental & Social Governance where by pivoting towards tech, I hope I can leverage more power to help more people, and still strive to achieve some positive difference in the world.

I have always been a rather creative individual and ever since I first took an intro to gaming class in high school I knew coding was the perfect outlet for my creativity and problem solving skills to thrive. In late 2021 I enrolled into Nashville Software School which has provided me the technical skills needed for this pursuit.
