A marine biologist named Didi joins an expedition to survey the coral reefs of the Thousand Islands archipelago northeast of Jakarta. When their boat engine dies in the middle of the night, the current pulls them to an uncharted island with a Dutch colonial lighthouse that appears on no map. Inside, they find fresh footprints, a still-warm fire, and a logbook dating back to 1843 with entries that grow increasingly desperate. The lighthouse keeper recorded seeing figures standing in the shallows -- the drowned sailors whose bodies were never recovered from the reef. As night falls again, the water around the island fills with the spirits of the dead, standing patient and still, waiting in the place where the sea keeps what it took.
