A Public Affair

Stories of Menstruation with Rachel Kauder Nalebuff

Listen Later

In some ways, Rachel Kauder Nalebuff has been working on Our Red Book since she was a teenager and her great aunt told her that she started her period for the first time while fleeing Nazi Germany. Since then Rachel has been collecting stories and asking questions about first periods, last periods, and missed periods.
In Our Red Book: Intimate Histories of Periods, Growing & Changing, she edits that collection and explores honest and open conversations about bleeding. Rachel joins on A Public Affair to talk about the new book.
Rachel Kauder Nalebuff is a writer that weaves oral history, performances, and public health into beautiful stories. She is the author of the New York Times best seller My Little Red Book, and Stages, a hybrid collection of writing and interviews with end-of-life care workers. She also co-edited The Feminist Utopia Project with Alexandra Brodsky.
