Introducing the Cars That Made Australia podcast, with Tim 'Rosso' Ross.
If you love a good Origin story — whether it’s on the field or on the road — this one’s for you. With the NRL season wrapped up and Bathurst right around the corner, it’s time to shift gears and look at a car that changed the game — and the rules — at Mt Panorama, before going on to conquer the world: the Nissan Skyline GTR.
In this episode, we’ll trace the Skyline GTR’s journey from a track star that dominated Bathurst, to a virtual legend in the world of PlayStation, and finally to a Hollywood icon on the big screen. A monster of performance, this was the hero car for a new generation — Godzilla, unleashed.

Champion James Tomkins OAM is a triple Olympic gold medallist, two of those as part of the much loved Oarsome Foursome.
Their win in the Men’s Four at the Barcelona Olympics of 1992, made rowing cool and their defence in 1996 cemented their legacy as legends of Australian sport.
For Tomkins, there was more glory ahead, bronze in the Men’s Pair, against insurmountable odds in Sydney 2000. And four years later, a third Olympic gold in combination with long-time offsider Drew Ginn in the Pair.
He helped inspire a generation of rowers, many of whom will be seeking to emulate his dominance in the Regatta at the Paris games.
