The beginning of Special Episodes of "Stories We Can Tell." It's a back-porch reading of "Tending to the Past," a book I wrote a few years ago. It is part novel, part memoir, part collection of writings. Through narrative, essays, and poetry, I explores what it is that makes teachers so fiercely loyal to the art of teaching, so committed to their calling. This is a reflection on all that is good in the classroom, giving voice to the beauties, frustrations, and truths that make up a teacher's day.
