The rain smashed against my windshield, faster than my wipers could
clear it. It was a downpour and I couldn’t see much. I tapped my fingers
on the wheel, edging closer to running the light. There was nobody
around, after all. And then a figure appeared in the corner of my eye,
hunched over on the sidewalk. They looked, odd. That's when we locked
eyes.
