In this episode of Storytellers With a Message,
I share a childhood memory of riding an old‑fashioned carousel—the kind with brass rings, a single golden ring, and music you could hear before you ever saw the ride. As a little girl, I stretched my arm as far as I could, hoping to catch a ring as my horse swept past the machine. Most days I came away with nothing more than a tarnished brass ring, but to me, it felt like the whole world.
This story explores how those early moments of reaching, trying, and hoping follow us into our grown‑up lives. So often we feel like we’re going around and around, reaching for whatever our own “gold ring” represents, only to miss it by a breath. But even when we don’t get what we hoped for, we never leave empty‑handed. Every ride gives us experience, perspective, and another chance to adjust our approach.
If you enjoy gentle, real‑life stories about connection, meaning, and the small moments that stay with us, you’re in the right place.
