Being an influencer requires a combination of strong speaking skills and personal authenticity. Effective speaking isn't merely about having a variable voice tone but also about being able to project one's voice powerfully. Practicing regularly and overcoming initial struggles can significantly refine speaking skills, leading to increased influence and audience engagement.

Does this sound familiar?
You try to engage in political discourse with someone from the opposite side, only to be met with hostility
It's time to acknowledge the pain of feeling unheard and the frustration of being stuck in echo chambers. It's time to flush cancel culture and prioritize
By valuing individuals and their perspectives, we can bridge political divides and increase understanding.
Join us in this episode to explore the power of language, the importance of diverse perspectives, and the need to move beyond cancel culture.
In this episode, you will be able to:
What can you do today to one person to reach out and say,
Trust but verify - don't get caught in a thunderstorm without a backup plan when technology ultimately fails and usually at the worst possible moment.
Trust but verify - don't get caught in a thunderstorm without a backup plan when technology ultimately fails and usually at the worst possible moment.
I learned to Trust but Verify and have a Backup Plan after a plan of mine failed in Little Rock. Technology can be both a good and bad thing, and we should be watchful of it and not trust it implicitly. AI is nothing to be feared, but should be used with caution and verified.
"Trust but verify - don't trust technology implicitly but use it to your advantage and always verify the information before relying on it."
In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. Have you ever had a plan fail and not have a plan B?
2. How does artificial intelligence (AI) like ChatGPT, influence our lives today?
3. Will technology eventually fail and what happens if it does at the worst possible moment.?

When his credit card fails 15 times trying to pay for groceries, an exasperated Doug Thompson embarks on a mission to explore the irony of technology, uncovering a hidden single point of failure in his quest for a cashless society.
You will learn:
1. Have you ever experienced the frustration of trying to pay for something with your credit card and it not working? 2. How did the US credit card system evolve over time to make it more secure but perhaps less reliable?
3. What is the potential impact of technology failures on our ability to transition to a cashless society?
When Doug attempts to do the right thing by buying recycled paper cups, he soon discovers the startling truth about plastic recycling and sets off on a journey to unmask the lies of the autocrats and bureaucrats.
This episode was about Questioning what we think we know. I learned about this topic through spilling coffee in my truck and researching the truth behind recycling. Through research, I discovered that recycling is not as effective as it seems, with only 2.4 million tons of plastic waste out of the 51 million generated in 2020 being recycled. We should be questioning how to better reuse materials and hold our leaders accountable for their decisions. Ask questions and keep asking why to get to the truth.
You also get to meet another one of my alter egos, Poindexter.
"It's up to us to create the nirvana we're looking for - we can't let the autocrats and bureaucrats do that for us. Hold them responsible, ask the questions, and keep asking why."
In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. Are we really getting the most out of recycling?
2. How can we use the plastic that can't be recycled in a constructive way?
3. How can we hold our elected officials accountable for our multi-trillion dollar spending spree?
When Doug Thompson goes to pick up his dry cleaning and notices a strange button pattern, he embarks on an unexpected journey to uncover the compelling, ironic history of buttons and why "we've always done it that way".
This episode of Technology Tour Guide is about What to buttons have to do with Transformation?. I learned that buttons have a long history and can tell us a lot about the past. Men's buttons are on the right to make drawing swords easier, while women's buttons are on the left to make it easier for them to be dressed. We can use this thought process to question the way we do things in life and strive for transformation. #TeamDoug and #TeamClyde are hashtags to use to join the conversation.
"Let's think a little bit different. So as you go forward this week doing something cool, button, hey, get a shirt with buttons on the other side. Or, hell, get a shirt with no buttons on it. Velcro would be good to go."

In this episode of the Technology Tour Guide Podcast, Doug Thompson explores the irony and annoyance of modern bathroom technology that is supposed to make our lives easier. In this episode, you will learn:
Other episodes you'll enjoy:
I remember way back when I opened Microsoft Word, and there was Clippy, the annoying paperclip that tried to help me. He was so bad, they made memes about him. When I type something in, autocorrect can make it worse. I remember my former boss, who would spell words so badly that auto correct even got it wrong. Spell check is better, but it doesn't stop people from misspelling my name. The danger is when technology that is supposed to help us only helps us 80% of the time. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are supposed to be the saviors, but they are only as good as the training they are given. We have to trade off having a poorer experience but having our data private. I'm still not sure what they are doing
"But as we try to do AI to new things, it's messy at first because it's still learning. It's like a child. And it's only as good, though, as the training it's given. So we're all human and we train it, and then you can add machine learning to it, which trains it at a higher rate."
