Stranded with the Rancher
The story was more focused on relief efforts after a disaster in a small town than it was in the "romance" and their story. There were too many explanations for things happening instead of actual dialect. It felt like the story was all over the place. Also the fact that they didn't have much time for their relationship to develop not just "we've hated each other for two years, let's have sex and then we'll be head over heels in love" was just too much. Then the wedding for Drew's brother was so out of the blue it just ruined his story with his high school sweetheart. While there weren't any typographical errors I still didn't like the way the book was written. It dragged on things that didn't add to the story and rushed through the ones that would've made the difference between an okay story and a great one. I was so bored I almost didn't finish the book.
The heroine wasn't too likeable either no matter how many times the author told us *insert sarcasm here* how much she volunteered and helped everyone after the storm even though she too was a victim (but she was one of the lucky ones.) She was so unforgettable I can't recall her name even though I just finished reading the book. I almost wish the story was about Stormy, the orphan puppy she's adopting but somehow forgot rather quickly. She was too into her insecurities and her stubbornness came off as annoying. What she went through in her past doesn't add up to the way she acts. And don't even get me started on her loser brother, that's one side story that made no sense at all. I still can't tell if he was good or bad or if he's just an idiot. Maybe it's just the way it was all put together but I just didn't like it. The one redeeming thing in this story was Drew, I actually liked him a lot and everything about him made sense and went with everything explained about him and his family so the star is just for him.
My Hero!!!
I really enjoyed this read. Drew wants her land and Beth is not willing to give it up. This goes on for a while. On one of those days Drew confronts her the tornado hits and he ends up saving her life. While in the unground shelter they both realize that they have a strong attraction to one another and all the time they were fighting it was really foreplay and attraction. After being stuck overnight underground they are rescued by Drew. The city is turned upside down. Beth's home and part of her land is destroyed. Drew offers her a place to stay and from there things progress and the feeling the have takes over.
