On a quest to eliminate loneliness and isolation, writer and podcaster Lauren Hansen is on a mission to encourage every person to meet someone new every day. Take a moment to reflect on the past week and plan for the upcoming week ahead. Write four things you would like to do more of and four things you would like to do less of.

God knows how you like your coffee, your favorite place to walk, the secret longings that you haven’t told anyone. He knows the name of your favorite celebrity and what makes you feel most free and the feeling you get when someone sends you a gift in the mail. He knows your favorite pair of jeans and your favorite type of weather and he places those things in your life because he loves you. He knows you so intimately and intricately. Today, there is an invitation to notice what is around you. Look for the ways God shows you how he sees you and knows you intimately as you go through this day.

In this trailer episode, Lauren cites a recent article in the New York Times that discovered a significant impact strangers have on our lives. Researchers found that connections with strangers, which they called weak ties, gave people a feeling that they belonged to a community larger than themselves (rather than strong ties with people like family members and close friends). Throughout the pandemic, we've been isolated in our homes and are re-learning to come back out into community. There is a great opportunity to take risks by meeting people in a way that we aren't getting as often as we used to pre-pandemic.
