Submit to godly pastors and teachers who are committed to holistic Christianity. Furthermore, seek to help everyone in your sphere of influence to develop healthy relationships with wise, godly men and/or women who can provide spiritual oversight and accountability based on a holistic paradigm of Christianity.

To be a disciple of Jesus Christ is the greatest survival technique and is also the greatest way to prosper. True disciples of Christ obey God on two levels. First, they learn and practice a biblical worldview. And second, they search out and fulfill God’s specific purpose for their lives. In this way they build their lives on the rock—Christ—and can withstand the inevitable storms of life and will enjoy the economic favor of God. Become a disciple of Christ and seek to help others become disciples of Christ. And if you want your work activity to be as profitable as possible, work with others who are also disciples of Christ.

If your local church does not offer teaching and training in God’s principles of business and organizational behavior, humbly challenge your leaders to provide this training.

You prosper in a depression by recognizing that it is an opportunity to increase your true wealth. God is in charge of His universe. He is not surprised by calamity, rather He ordains calamity as a vehicle to prosper us by enabling us to grow in true riches. Therefore don’t be distracted by economic calamity. Don’t buy into the fear, gloom, and doom that are so prevalent. Face reality knowing that this is an opportunity to prosper by seeking the Lord for wisdom to navigate these challenging financial times. You will emerge on the other side more prosperous than ever because you will gain more wisdom—true riches—as to how to live well in God’s universe.

Invest money to discover and fulfill the will of God for your life and your organization. Encourage everyone in your sphere of influence to obey the Lord and therefore grow in wisdom. Invest in people who are seeking to obey the Lord, as they are the ones who will gain wisdom. Never let money stand in the way of your obedience to God’s will and your faithfulness to His values and principles. Be willing to sacrifice money to what is right. Always denominate success in terms of obedience to God. This will lead to wisdom — true riches and lasting success.
