Musicals and time-bending blockbusters that helped fill a lockdown staycation

Streaming Wars columnist Colin Chisholm was supposed to be lying on a beach on the South Shore, but, thanks to the pandemic, found himself stuck at home for his vacation.

Luckily, there are plenty of things available to watch.

Musicals like the Greatest Showman on Disney+ and comedies like Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga were highlights. Christopher Nolan’s latest sci-fi action flick Tenet? Not so much. Colin breaks these and a few other things down.

Streaming Wars host Colin Chisholm is recording from home again, this time focusing on hit Netflix fantasy series Shadow and Bone, Roku’s surprising new batch of content and a heartfelt family animated comedy The Mitchells vs. the Machines.

Shadow and Bone scratches that fantasy-adventure itch with an interesting and lush world and compelling characters.

If you’re looking for something new to binge, it’s probably just what the doctor ordered. Remember Quibi?

Roku is probably hoping you don’t as much of that content is being revived as ‘Roku Originals'.

These titles will be exclusive to the Roku Channel, on Roku streaming hardware and its licensing partners - think TV’s with a built-in Roku player and the like.’

The Mitchells vs. the Machines is a heartwarming and laugh-out-loud family animated film from the studio that brought us Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.
