Mike Rawk breaks down Essential Saturdays and his efforts to raise funds for small businesses and in turn, feed Essential workers and Front-liners. The gang talks about what they've been cooking at home while under shelter in place and quarantine.

In this episode, The Musubi Boyz sit down with Joelskee. Long time DJ and community builder with a lot of love for the small businesses and establishments that serve delicious food. So much love for the food, he was coordinating several events and festivals so everyone can come out and support.  We dive into his origin story with his dancing days, the love for music, family, community, and monthly residencies with the almighty DP Sound Crew. We bad-mouth Yelp, weak Yelp reviews along with the continued appropriation of indigenous cultures.

The Musubi Boyz get together and remember the late great Kobe Bryant, his legacy, and the other families involved in the tragic accident. A major subject the fellas touch on is MSG! Post recording our 24th (Ironic, because it's one of Kobe's retired jersey numbers) on Sunday, Jan. 26th, we learned of a helicopter accident that took place in Calabasas, CA that involved the passing of Los Angeles Laker Legend, Kobe Bryant; his daughter, Gigi Bryant; Payton Chester, Sarah Chester, Alyssa Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, John Altobelli, Christina Mauser, and Ara Zobayan. We want to take the time and acknowledge these individuals that were on their way to a basketball tournament at the Mamba Academy in Newbury Park, CA.

We have Chef Henry Pineda of MFK (Modern Filipino Kitchen) by Aysee in Anaheim, CA. The MusubiBoyz talk about the Evil Cooks x Rose City Pizza Collaboration that took place the weekend of Nov 16th. El Trompo Nego and Chile Relleno in full effect and the new exclusive Char Siu Pizza! Also recapping the month of events. They also discuss "Immigrant Food" a new restaurant that focuses on " bowls blending cuisines from different cultures around the globe" and "It also gives diners a chance to donate to local immigrant advocacy groups -- all under a slogan aiming to bridge the political divide and find common ground: 'United at the Table.'" The boys also discuss experiences of racism and how food is still the uniting factor that brings us all together.
