Life on the streets in ministry is different than any other ministry you could experience.  Part of our mission statement is that we reach the lost "where they are found"; under highways, deep in the woods, or along the street, we go to where they are and join them in their lives. Sometimes that means learning how to make reroll cigarettes while listening to their story and sharing the good news of Jesus in the process.

Dennis is one of our longtime WOTS missionaries to the homeless.  He has been working with many of our homeless families throughout the years, from on the street ministry, to serving at our Sunday dinners. Here is his story, and how Jeremiah & Trish made an impact on his life.

Susan, a long time WOTS homeless lady, and her "old man" have been together for a long time.  Her old man gets drunk on occasion, during those occasions he gets violent. She won't ever press chargers, because being safe with him 363 days a year is worth the 2 days of unrest.

Ep 7: Guardian Angels

There are men that serve a special purpose in our ministry. They are homeless, but that is not their main concern. They concern themselves with the safety of Pastor Skip and our team every Sunday.  They come to our Sunday dinner, hang in the back, and keep watching for any would-be attempts of violence against our team. Mike was one of those guardian angels and he took his job very seriously.  The day before the recording of this episode we were informed that Mike was killed.  He was a drunk and dealt with many of life's issues, but he was a good man and loved Pastor Skip well.

Ep 6: Cowboy & Nancy

We came upon a camp in the woods that had major damage due to a recent storm. A tree had fallen on Nancy's lean-to.  With a few friends, some chainsaws, and a lot of hard work, our team was able to get her camp back in order. Weeks later we came upon her camp again, flattened to the ground by bulldozers. Here is her story.

Ep 5: Brittany's New Normal

A few days before this episode Brittany's life was changed, and homelessness was her new normal.  She found out about our ministry (as many do) through word-of-mouth, and showed up at our Sunday dinner to find help.  A few days later Pastor Skip set up a new tent with a sleeping bag and blanket, extra food, and a bag of hygiene necessities.  She will make it through this, and we will be with her every step of the way.

Ep 4: Miss Mary

Miss Mary brought a smile wherever she went - even in her darkest of times, she was the brightest in the room.  Her story started off bad but has a wonderfully happy ending.

Ep 3: Boston Mark

All they found was a Word on the Street Ministry card - through that discovery Mark was given an honorable military burial.  His story matters and his life is a message of loss, hope, and honor.  Listener discretion advised.
