Hi friends! As it is the 25th anniversary of 9/11, I’ve found myself reflecting on my own connection to the events of that day. Today I am sharing the testimony of how I was called into overseas service to the Lord, and the interesting intersection that has with 9/11.

In so many ways, what happened that year set the course for the rest of my life. I spent 20 years in overseas service, and the last 25 in some form of ministry service to the Lord. But I do sometimes find myself reflecting on how my life might have been different if I had made different choices. There is no doubt that 9/11 was a day that changed the United States forever, and we’re still continuing to see and experience the impact even today.

Occupy Babylon explores world events and culture in light of a biblical worldview and a prophetic lens. In this introductory episode of a new series, I start by sharing the concept behind “Occupying Babylon.” Essentially this comes from both the parable of the talents (Luke 19:11-27) and the instructions given by God to the exiles to literal Babylon in Jeremiah 29:4-7. We will also spend time in this episode considering the ongoing issue of worldwide, seemingly cataclysmic fires and earthquakes around the world and how thanks to years of media programming it’s easy to view what is happening now as a sort of “new normal.” I also point out a weird connection to the recent World Cup, and talk through how we view all of these things through a biblical and prophetic lens.
