As a leopard gecko breeder, keeper, and podcaster sometimes I get frustrated. Sometimes more than others, but it happens. But as this podcasting and reptile journey continues, I am beginning to realize that I have a platform. A platform that I can use to share my views and bring on credible members of the community to do so as well. So that’s exactly what I am going to do today. I just hope that you take it into consideration and discuss in a positive, helpful way that will cause a change in thinking, thoughts, and actions that will change the reptile community for the good. After all, growth is sparked by the challenging of ideas. This is where learning happens.
Join us this Sunday for yet another Episode of the Strength In Leos Podcast with our second Round Table Discussion. For this discussion, I will be joined by John Scarbrough of GeckoBoa Reptiles, Chris Charlton of Suburban Geckos, and Don Hamilton of Highwoods Exotics. Each of them are high-class breeders who represent high-quality genetics, integrity, and great breeding ethics behind there names. Many are very worried during this confusing time about how the COVID-19 Virus will impact sales and the future of the gecko market. In this episode, we discussed this, a bit about what it's like breeding full time and answered some questions that were asked.
The Blessed Gecko specializes in high-quality Leopard Geckos, African Fat-Tailed geckos and Crested geckos from amazing genetic lineage. Ryan McVeigh joins us on the Strength In Leos Podcast to discuss the work he does in the reptile hobby, as well as his unique views about herpetoculture. Ryan as deeply rooted in many great organizations such as USARK, Zilla, the Madison Herpsociety, Friends and Scales Rescue, and so much more. This is a great episode full of tons of information about the reptile community.
Spotty Tail Geckos is a small hobbyist breeder that focuses on quality genetics and maintaining excellent husbandry. Andy got started in the hobby when his daughter wanted a pet leopard gecko. He immediately fell in love with the animals and the hobby. Andy started breeding his first leopard geckos in 2015. To this day he keeps a very small collection of geckos sourced from top tier breeders.
On this episode of the pod, I wanted to get an outsider's perspective on the reptile hobby. So that's exactly what I did. I brought on one of my close friends Jessie Globerman to get her opinions on Leopard Geckos and the community around them.
Welcome to season two of the Strength On Leos Podcast! This is Chris's third appearance on the podcast and his second time being on the premiere episode of each season. Today on the show we discussed how Chris is able to produce such awesome animals through careful selection of his pairings and a bit of luck.
