The gift of being single

According to a study by the Journal of the International Association for Relationship Research, researchers found that compared to their married counterparts, single men and women have higher levels of depression, anxiety, mood disorders, adjustment problems, suicidal behavior and other forms of psychological distress. As a single person, this ought not to be your reality.

For those desiring to get married, being single is a transit phase and if well understood as such, it could be harnessed to yield great accomplishments.

In this episode of Discovery Tuesday, we share salient truths and debunk myths that make people look at this phase of life as one to be endured and not enjoyed and maximized. Join us on this exciting journey of discovery as we show you how to maximize this season of your life.

As long as you're happy and have a fulfilling life, try not to stress out about your relationship status. While science may tells us that being single isn't good for us, stress isn't good for anybody.

Life is a continuum and not a one way street, make up your mind to enjoy all the facets of it. Buckle your seat belts and make sure you have an eventful and jolly ride as you journey along.

Our next episode promises to be another exciting moment of discovery, join us unfailingly next week as we take this conversation to another level. We love to hear your thoughts on this topic also, so feel free to drop a comment below.

Welcome to another episode of Discovery Tuesday on The Afrocentrist Podcast. The topic we discussed in the episode is GROWTH over GOALS. Why we should focus more on our growth rather than just achieving a set goal.

The importance of goals in achieving success cannot be overemphasized, and I believe most of us have goals already laid out for the year. However, growth enhances your chances of attaining and sustaining success.

In this episode, Solomon shares the importance of a growth mindset as opposed to a result only mindset. He also explains how a growth mindset can help you achieve and sustain your goals.

Things to listen for:

The difference between goals and growth

How a growth mindset can change your life

The importance of growth over a goal

What growth looks like in different aspects of life

Helpful steps to take towards achieving growth.

We hope that you'd take notes and share with us what jumped at you the most from this episode.

Till we come your way again with another episode, have a fantastic day.

See you next week.

Yay! You read right? This is one of the most asked questions that most therapists have to answer and the reason is not far-fetched because this is by far the most important thing in life to get right. By choosing a life partner; you're choosing a life companion, career therapist, travel companion, parenting partner who will deeply influence your children and be the greatest influence in the choices you make in life.

As much as this decision is pertinent, it is also a personal one hence nothing is cast in concrete. In this episode of Discovery Tuesday on the Afrocentrist Podcast, we provide guidelines on criteria to consider in your preferences.

Research backs up the claim made by Tim Urban in his book "Wait But Why"; that married people are on average happier than single people and much happier than divorced people. He further stated that "a closer analysis reveals that if you split up married people into two groups based on marriage quality, people in self-assessed poor marriages are fairly miserable, and much less happy than unmarried people, and people in self-assessed good marriages are even happier than the literature reports."

Finding the right partner is a journey of discoveries that necessitates that you listen to your heart, use your head, never allow your emotions to becloud your judgment, trust your gut feeling and seek divine guidance.

We hope that you never lose your wonder as you make this life-transforming decision.

Make it a date with us next week Tuesday as we bring you more juicy discussions on relationships. Keep winning and keep discovering.
