It's been a long time since I've played Ys VIII for my channel. However, I still go back to it from time to time and reflect on what I experienced and why the game holds up after a decade. With a couple new Ys games failing to reach VIII's lofty standards, I decided to look at what I feel is one of VIII's biggest strengths: logical, well thought out exploration, how it extends to game progression, and why it works well narratively. It sometimes feels like they combined two Ys games in one big package, but did it masterfully.
