Today we are discussing the return of high school and youth baseball in California, after the shutdown of all scholastic sports after March 12, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a very long layoff, for everyone, from players, coaches, to fans, and umpires. We talk about, not only, the return of high school baseball, but of the sudden policy reversal, to allow all high school (and youth) sports to return, virtually, at once! The impact on sports officials, and multi-sport athletes is discussed, including how this emphasizes the shortage of officials in all sports! E-Nak shares the "joys" of umpire assigning with the extremely short preparation time in advance of the actual start of the season. We also talk about our personal returns to the baseball diamond.
