Lake Texoma Daily Fishing Report

"Stripers Biting Strong at Lake Texoma - Find the Hot Spots for Your Next Catch"

Listen Later

As of January 9, 2025, Lake Texoma is at 100% capacity, with a water level of 617.34 feet, which is just above the conservation pool elevation of 617 feet[2].

The weather is cool, with water temperatures around 53 degrees, and the water clarity is stained[5].

Sunrise today is at around 7:30 AM, and sunset will be at approximately 5:15 PM.

Fish activity is robust, particularly for striped bass. With the cold weather, stripers are actively biting in 30-40 feet of water near main-lake ledges and humps. Live bait, especially shad, has been highly effective, but white flukes are also producing well. Mid-day has been particularly productive, with fish schooling in deeper water as the day progresses. Keep an eye out for birds working the surface to locate active schools[5].

Yesterday saw good numbers of striped bass caught, along with some blue catfish and crappie. Catfish are biting well on cut bait near creek channels and in 35-45 feet of water, with drift fishing being particularly effective. Crappie are holding tight to brush piles in 15-20 feet of water, with minnows and small jigs working well[5].

For the best results, use live shad or white flukes for striped bass. For catfish, cut bait such as shad chunks is recommended. Crappie can be targeted with minnows and small jigs near brush piles.

Hot spots include the Eisenhower State Park Bluffs on the Texas side, where striped bass fishing is excellent, especially when northwest winds blow. Another good spot is Denison Dam, also on the Texas side, known for its consistent striper activity. On the Oklahoma side, North Island and West Burns Run are highly recommended[3].

Remember to check for birds working the surface and target the deeper waters, especially during mid-day, for the best chances of catching those big stripers.
