Join me on a reflective journey as we explore the profound impact of meaning on our lives.


I recount a conversation with a student that shed light on the therapeutic power of structure and routine, especially within the confines of inpatient psychiatry. We discussed how the simple act of providing a consistent schedule and the familiar faces of therapists can offer a stable foundation for patients, aiding in their healing process just as significantly as medication. Through parallels with physical rehabilitation, I put forth the idea that even the smallest aspects of our daily routines can be imbued with meaning, influencing our well-being, self-perception, and resilience in the face of disappointment. The opposite can also be done; assigning significant meaning to aspects of our lives that greatly negatively affect us and our abiity to thrive.


What would happen if we became more intentional about where we CHOOSE to assign meaning in our lives? Could adopting a sense of flexibility here allow for more personal power, growth and life satisfaction?


I share a personal experiment about infusing my daily life with meaning that serves me, an insight that became the inspiration for the podcast's name, Love and Meaning. I invite you, the listeners, to participate and reflect on how deliberate actions and connections can enrich your existence. As I navigate this experiment myself, I encourage you to share your experiences and the transformative effects of this approach on your own lives as I share mine. 


Spiritual curriculum:

  • Take some time to reflect and contemplate on the following question: "Do I assign more meaning in my life to the things that hurt me rather than the things that serve me?
  • Are there meanings you can shift and reframe?
  • Write down a list of your core values in life. Then write a list of the CURRENT aspects of your life that reflect these values. These will be your new list of areas to prioritize meaning.
  • Practice gratitude and appreciation for these meaningful things you already have in your life.
