In this episode, we are looking at what we often call The Main Event: student achievement. Student learning and achievement across all of our grade levels can be broken down into three board goals. The first board goal is conditions of learning, the second is student engagement, and the third is academic achievement.
Dr. Doyle is joined by Steve Post, Coordinator of Measurement and Monitoring, and the former Principal of Vista Magnet Middle School. Dr. Doyle and Mr. Post will review topics that include:
How we measure academic achievement
How we look at a holistic model of growth in learning over time, not just annual assessments
How we look for long-term growth to build student capacity
We’ll review the district’s current data in subjects like English language, mathematics, the new science test, and a state testing overview.
Also covered are VUSD’s latest graduation rates, the amount of scholarship dollars awarded to VUSD students, and the paths that our graduates are exploring.
