On this episode, Dr. Doyle welcomes three special guests: Eve Lorenson and Dr. Rebecca Mediola are parents of VUSD students and leaders in the district’s commitment to special education, and Jud Buechler is a veteran of the National Basketball Association (NBA), having played 12 seasons in the NBA, and winning three NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, alongside a well-known teamate named Michael Jordan.
The panel talks about the upcoming Inclusive Basketball Camp at Madison Middle School on Saturday, February 7th. Inclusive sports are one of the ways VUSD builds knowledge and relationships between students with disabilities and the general student population, and this camp is sure to be a powerful experience for all involved. Jud and other veteran NBA players will be on hand, and the event is open to students in all grades, regardless of whether or not a student has a disability.
The episode also talks about the upcoming North County Special Education Conference on Wednesday, February 11th, hosted by and at Cal State San Marcos. The conference is designed for families, educators, school staff, the community, and service providers to come together to access resources and build connections and relationships.
It’s a conversation packed with great insights.
