Student Views wraps up this academic year with a nod to students at the nearby College of St. Scholastica. Student Views welcome Alicia Tipcke, the director of the Production Club at St. Scholastica, sharing her passion for the production, new ideas and events the Production Club will be hosting.

Student Views is a snapshot of life at UMD from a different perspective. Alissa Hokr is our guest today at Student Views, talking about Vocal Jazz, being a member of a Lake Effect, in a band plus managing school and artistic work.

This week on Student Views, Mary Franz from MPIRG, a student organization at UMD who was a sponsor of the recent 8th District Congressional candidate forum at St. Scholastica. Franz and host Pavel Arkhipenkov talk about political and MPIRG events and importance of student involvement.

Today, Student Views host Pavel Arkhipenkov welcomes Legislative Relations Committee Director Jacob Griffiths to discuss UMD lobbying efforts and plans for 2018. The LRC, is a Student Association sub-committee that "facilitates students to work with legislators at the local, state, and federal levels to pursue meaningful change pertaining to issues facing UMD students, such as higher education funding." ~ from the UMD Student Association website.

This week on Student Views host Pavel Arkhipenkov shares the journey he began ago when he started this radio project on KUMD. The experience of bringing international student experiences to the air includes himself. Listen for more about Russian-born, UMD student, Pavel Arkhipenkov.

This week, Student Views welcomes Dave Herrera and Lizzy Easter from the UMD Peer Sexual Health Educators program talking about program goals, the development of this critical education at UMD and importance and growth of bystander intervention. They also share who at UMD will receive bystander intervention training and why it is so important.

This week Student Views spotlights hurricane relief efforts at UMD. Elly Johnson from UMD Honors shares their effort to support medical assistance going to Puerto Rico. The UMD Honors program offers students a chance to go above and beyond their degree requirements, committing to community volunteering plus additional honors courses. This community effort is just one of the many ways students in the UMD Honors program volunteer to give back in the Twin Ports.

Student Views" connects you with the student experience at UMD, airing every other Monday on Northland Morning. This week host Pavel Arkhipenkov welcomes Han Zhang - Public Relations Director for the UMD Chinese Student and Scholar Association to the studio. Listen for more about the organization's mission, events and importance on campus.

After public outcry at the graphic signs and harassment that greeted new UMD students on move-in day this fall, UMD leadership and current students have been busy gathering ideas to create meaningful change on campus. UMD student and host of KUMD's Student Views, Pavel Arkhipenkov returns to the air for a second season to share a conversation with UMD Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Dean of Students, Dr. Lisa Erwin. Listen for more about student housing, move-in day concerns and how students and UMD are working together to change trends on and off campus.
