In order to get good at most things takes a lot of practice and that’s the same with English. When I was a youngster growing up in beautiful Silver City, New Mexico I worked part-time at the golf course and my boss the golf professional at the then Scott Park Golf Course, Jim Smith told me that if I wanted to improve my golf swing I need to watch good golfers and more importantly golfers with good swings and that I shouldn’t watch high-handicappers with bad swings. Well there were both good and bad golfers in my hometown and I still remember this wise golf tip. This is the same advice I give students studying English. You must follow and imitate good speakers of English. That’s one reason why NCFL students study English with passion. At NCFL we attract students that not only want to speak English but also students that love to study English. The more students study or practice English the better they will become.
NCFL students in the English Department are also getting jobs that use English more and more and the demand for students that can not only speak English but also have a better understanding of foreign cultures is becoming the norm in business today. This is where some of their passion to study English comes from
