Arrogance is the number one enemy of the Christian. Satan uses arrogance and you can’t afford to let him manipulate you by appealing to your arrogance. Arrogance is always identified by self-justification. Self-justification leads to self-deception which leads to self-absorption which ultimately leads to self-destruction. If you’re thinking, “Why did God have to discipline me” you’re in a bad place in life. “When arrogance comes, then comes dishonor” (Prov 11:2). Humility is the code word for respect for authority and its orientation for the grace of God. “A person’s arrogance will bring him low but a lifestyle of humility will attain honor” (Prov 23:29). When you take on this attitude of humility based on a divine viewpoint and orientation to the authority of God, humbling yourself, then God can use you. God promises that the humble believer who is grace-oriented will be promoted. “God opposes the arrogant but He gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6).
