On theme for the season, this bonus episode is about the trope-filled 80s/90s menswear of Scrooged (1988). Everything is coded for audience convenience: corporate guys wear DB power suits, and a nerd has round glasses and a bow tie. But here’s the thing– it’s all good! And not only does this film make good use of menswear stereotypes, but it also features some niche moves that you don’t see today, like proper black tie outerwear, a festive doeskin waistcoat, and vibrant, argyle-filled golf attire. The costuming in this movie is charming, as it not only fits the characters who wear it but also serves as great inspo fodder!

The latest episode is the SaDBoys' salute to Fall/Winter attire— the BEST season for dressing. They get into their favorite cold-weather pieces, how their approach differs from Spring/Summer (and "Early Fall"), and the aesthetics or rigs that hit the Spirit of the Season (vintage Alpine looks, ivy, hunting, cowboy in the cold). Ethan also goes deeper and shares how Fall/Winter dressing is meant to be exciting, full of color play and intricate pattern mixing, all in service of just how fun this season can be. Then, at the end, the boys talk about Jay's 10th edition of Friendsgiving, which had a "Parisian Cafe" theme. It's a jam-packed episode that is all about the joys of dressing when it's cold!

In this pod, the SaDBoys discuss the flashy, Belle Epoque menswear in the stage adaptation of Moulin Rouge and how they dressed as an assassin to attend a John Wick Laser Tag party. There's also a big discussion on "transitional weather attire" and how we like to dress in Early Fall, before it gets TOO cold and we start to Full Send into coats, tweeds, and scarves. November 18, 2025 B65 PREVIEW: The Menswear of All That Heaven Allows (1955)
The latest bonus episode is about the cozy (and masculine) vibes in Douglas Sirk's melodrama "All That Heaven Allows"! With its New England setting, color-forward cinematography, and Rock Hudson's flannel workshirts, it's a perfect fall movie. Romance is par for the course, but the movie is surprisingly quite critical. Jane Wyman plays Cary Scott, a wealthy widow who falls for her arborist Ron Kirby, played by the handsome Rock Hudson. Her friends and family basically shame her not just for picking a younger man, but one who is also beneath her station (despite the fact that he owns his own business and has land). The movie teaches us to pick love and happiness over social convention, all while giving us wonderful 50s East Coast Americana outfits.

Spencer, Ethan, and MJ talk about this whirlwind of a film— and the iconic grey suit (with white shirt and grey tie) worn by Cary Grant as Roger Thornhill (or is it George Kaplan?). It's truly the star of the film, going through a drunk drive, being framed for murder, and being run down by a crop duster (who also had a gun, people forget that)! Not only that, but it gets sponged and pressed in 20 minutes. Hitchcock's thriller is full of great style and a lot of grey suits with solid ties. We discuss it all in this pod!
