We have completed the first 6 months of 2021, listening to the previous president of PPIA NT with over 10 years of experience, now for the next 6 months, we will be showcasing and Introducing senior researchers from Indonesia who are doing a PhD. The first unique person to interview is Mas Lala, who has just submitted his thesis at the beginning of the year. Mas Lala comes from West Java and currently a lecturer from Cirebon, he studies at the College of Education. Do you want to know more about Mas Lala? Please listen to the podcast.
The interview was conducted by Mujiburrahman who is also a PhD student at Charles Darwin University, at the same time the Secretary-General of Indonesian Diaspora Network - Northern Territory, Australia.
Meet another unique diasporan from Darwin, Her nickname is Keke and she is from Salatiga in Central Java. She is the first female president of PPIA NT. She has completed her bachelor in Media and Communication from Charles Darwin University. She is one of the most creative Indonesian students in Darwin, with many graphic designs such as infographics, video graphics commercials for social media is her design especially activities for PPIA. She even can design for local comics and another short video/ movie projects. She explains the difficulties in the early times of the establishment of PPIA NT and her journey up until now.
The interview was conducted by the current vice president of PPIA NT his name is Ditto, also a student from Charles Darwin University.
Introducing one of the unique characters is Darwin, his name is Farhan from Depok in Indonesia. He has been Darwin since high school. He recently just graduate with a bachelor of accounting from Charles Darwin University. As a student, he was elected the president of PPIA NT for one period. During his leadership, he was the first to introduce the program called Night Market or Pasar Malam. Where Indonesian students involve all Indonesian communities present the culture, arts, dance and even the food to sell. He discusses the dynamics and challenges of working in active student organizations and making new friends along the process.
He is currently the treasurer of the Indonesian Diaspora Network and was active in the start of planning the Nusantara Foundation to Build a Rumah Indonesia in Darwin. Due to the Covid-19, many students became unemployed and now he works in the Quarantine Facilities at Howards Springs responsible for the transfer of logistics from the warehouse to the quarantine recipients.
The podcast was interviewed by our favourite member, his name is Zul who is currently working as a Waste Management and Infrastructure Officer at Howard Springs Facilities. This is his second time interviewing the previous members of PPIA and active member of the Indonesian Diaspora Network in Darwin.
There are so many unique people in Darwin. One of them is Rangga. He grew up in Jakarta in the capital city of Indonesia, whereas his father from Jogja and his mother from Riau. He started his journey in Darwin 11 years ago with an ambitious aim to complete a double degree in law and business. He was one of the most active members of PPIA NT and then eventually became the president of the Indonesian Student Association in the Northern Territory. When he graduated from Charles Darwin University, he becomes active and supports the establishment of the Indonesian Diaspora Network in the Northern Territory. So we have the founders of the Podcast Suara Diaspora, which was initially launched on Soundcloud.
The podcast was interviewed by Viola, born in Lampung, who is currently the Vice President of the Indonesian Diaspora Network in Northern Territory, and she also holds Working Holiday Visa. She is a brave woman working in the high risk and front line to protect the covid-19 in the Howards Springs Quarantine Facilities, making everyone in Darwin and the NT Safe.
Introducing Sakti, another unique character from the Darwin community. Born in Ternate, Maluku Utara he fly directly to Darwin after he graduated from Highschool. He was the once the President of the Indonesian Student Association in the Northern Territory. He is a bachelor student in the engineering and information technology department at Charles Darwin University. He tries hard to face all study challenges and active is in student organizations. He works hard to pay his tuition fees and living cost all by himself. He introduced the concept of monthly discussion called "Dolanan" when he was just a member of PPIA. He has big dreams and is an active member of the Indonesian community, especially among the Indonesian students.
The podcast was interviewed by Zul, who is an honorary member of PPIA NT because he holds a Working Holiday Visa. He is working in the front line to protect the covid-19 in the Howards Springs Quarantine Facilities making everyone in Darwin and the NT Safe.
Introducing Vincent Nicodemus, our next unique character from the Darwin community. He is the current President of Indonesian Student Association in the Northern Territory (PPIA NT 2020/2021) and member of Nusantara Foundation, as he hopes that student or youth can contribute to building Rumah Indonesia. He tries hard to balance study, work and organization life making time management very important. In the NT he conducted activities such as Pasar Malam, a monthly discussion called "Dolanan". He wants more students to be involved in PPIA NT activities have interested in becoming future leaders. Nico is yet another example of an active member of the Indonesian community in Darwin. He has proven his leadership skills by making PPIA NT into PPIA NT Incorporated (Inc.) a major milestone for the organization with gaining recognition from the NT Government on 27 January 2021.
The podcast was interviewed by Nicholas Kurniawan, the newest member of PPIA NT, who have just arrived in Darwin, 2020 being on the flight from Indonesian to Darwin for Internationa Students during the covid-19 pandemic.
Introducing Miraz, a unique character from the Darwin community. He is from Jakarta and decided to study in the Northern Territory (NT) in early 2008. In the NT he is known to establish the first Indonesian Student Association in the Northern Territory (PPIA NT) among the Indonesian Students in the community. He was the first president of PPIA NT conducted various activities such as the humanitarian effort by fundraising to assist the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, activities involving a number of Indonesian Artist. Miraz is working at Charles Darwin University and an active member of the Indonesian community in Darwin.
Introducing Dominic Witono, a unique character from the Darwin community. A chef from Central Java, he worked in large multinational cruise companies until decided to settle in the Northern Territory (NT) in early 2011.
In the NT he is known to promote the uniqueness of Indonesia and organise friendly gathering among the Indonesian community. In 2019, he coordinated a humanitarian effort by fundraising to assist the Australian community during the bushfire crisis. He was personally mentioned by the Prime Minister himself.
Dominic is now leading a project, using his expertise as a chef, to help provide food to international students and working visa holders who are struggling financially during the current COVID-19 crisis. Stay tuned to our podcast and hear what motivates him to help others.
