Today we're jumping into "Tokyo Godfathers", the award-winning 2003 anime film based on the novel Three Godfathers by Peter B. Kyne. Cooper is convinced that the sweet little baby Kyoko is Jesus, Danielle, for once, isn't obsessed with the obviously sad character, and we both obsess over Hana. This week, we watched Beyond the Boundary, "Kyoukai no Kanata"! The romance of Mirai and Akihito told amongst demons, demon hunters, and the evils that haunt our souls. Danielle helps Cooper get his stretching in as he reaches for justifications, theories, and explanations of everything she finds unforgivable. There's sis-cons, weird fetishism, underage pornography, and a heartfelt love story all shown with the beautiful artwork one would expect from a Kyoani production. We watch the 7 part movie series, Kara no Kyoukai - The Garden of Sinners! Actually based on a light novel, not a graphic novel, this film series released between 2007 and 2011. It covers the story of Shiki, her boyfriend, and the insane world they live in. We go movie by movie, talking about what we find interesting and ragging on some of the very, very unnecessary characters. Cooper and Danielle debate whether the plot actually matters or not and, to no one's surprise, Cooper does on a big long reach for some kind of meaning in this. In our first episode, we watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part One, "Phantom Blood", and Part Two, "Battle Tendency".
