  • Stability and Resilience

Stability and Resilience is the title of Episode 16 of Success and Inner Growth. Obviously, we need stability in our life, and in our business. But we need also change.

Resilience comes in when we lost stability for a moment. It is the ability to cope with outside influences which surprised us and threw our life off balance. Therefore, resilience is the ability to restore fresh stability after an unavoidable change.

Resilience is build on the ability to switch the fear mode off, accept a new situation and then open up to the opportunities which arise with that change.

  • Processes and Systems in a Business

Processes and Systems in a Business is the title of Episode 15 of Success and Inner Growth. This topic sounds a bit boring, but it is eminently important if you want to establish control over your own life with the help of your own business.

You can describe all businesses as a systems, comprising several subsystems and many processes. I already discussed that idea in episode 6 in the context of leverage. Check it out.

Understanding your business as a system will help you to bring stability and predictability into your business, and by extension into your life. In episode 13 we discussed the huge importance of stability in the context of the hierarchy of human needs.

  • Openness and Privacy

Episode 12 of our podcast Success and Inner Growth discusses the balance between openness and privacy in our life. Here follows a short overview of the content of the episode.

    Openness

We start with openness. In the process, we discover two different types of openness: Active and passive openness. Active openness describes the mindset of a researcher, while passive openness describes a networker who makes himself visible and approachable.

    Privacy

The term “privacy” looks at the first glance also like a simple and easily understandable concept. But privacy needs also a careful definition, and we spend quite some time defining the term privacy.

    Openness Needs Privacy

In the next step we discover the need for a private sanctuary, because otherwise we are in grave danger. All the powerful influences, which we invited into our life could overwhelm us.

    Spying

Of course, spying hurts our relationships. And it hurts first and foremost the spy himself, because he excludes the strongest and most authentic people from his network. Strong people know that they need their privacy, and they will not tolerate people around them, who don’t respect their privacy.

    Commercial Relationships

All of us have also many relationships with organisations. It is important to understand, that those organisations have other ways to talk to us, and to listen to us. They talk to us through advertisements and professional spokes people, and an important method to listen to us is for them tracking our behaviour.

  • The Value and Price of Information

Episode 11 of Success and Inner Growth discusses the Value and Price of Information.

    The Value of Information

It might sound surprising, but it is still true. The value of one and the same information can vary widely. The span can even go from a negative value (noise) to millions of Dollars for a single sentence.

There are three dimensions in the context of information determining its value:

    * Relevance* Credibility* Timeliness

One hand information value varies so widely. On the other hand, it is so easy to share information. Both together makes pricing information products very tricky.

    Slicing Information into Different Products

Accordingly, it is best practice to divide a set of information up into a series of products. General information of limited value to many can be offered broadly for a low price. More specific parts contained in the same set of information sells then for high price to few people.

  • How to Care for Your Subconscious Mind

Episode 10 of Success and Inner Growth discusses ways to take care of our subconsious mind.

    What is the Subconscious Mind

As a first step we clarify concept of subconsious mind.

    * We look at its fundamental function of a dump file for all information we ever gatheres in our life.* The we look at the way our subconscious mind organises this information with tags. * We note that a record cannot be deleted or edited, once it entered the subconscious mind. * But we realise also, that we can attach some tags to those records, connecting relating records and thus setting a context for a record.

How can the Subconcious Mind help us?

Next we identify three ways our subconscious mind can help us.

    * It can act as a reference database, helping us to understand and interpret the information our senses send to our mind.* Automationg thoughts and behaviour is another service our subconscious mind provides to us.* Creativity and problem solving is another strength of the subconscious mind. We talked already in module 9 a bit about the techniques we can use to make that work for us.* Alerting us about inconsistencies in our life and about new opportunities

How can we care for our subconscious mind, protect it and grow it?

Finaly, we look at ways we can protect and support our subconscious mind, so that it can help us more efficiently. They include

    * Curating the information we send to our subconsious mind* Providing time to crunch the daily input and sort it out.* Appreciating its work, and especially the self-monitoring system it offers to us.

  • How to Organise Your Time

Organise Your Time to Work for You

In Episode 9 of Success and Inner Growth discusses how to organise time from the perspective of the person spending the time. I develop four fundamental ways to spend our time, namely

    * Time for Your Self* Family Time* Transactional Interaction Time* Time for Focused Work.

First I explain four different modes for using our time. In a second step I demonstrate in two examples how I organise the time modes to create a flow for creative work and problem solving. And this flow helps me to call in support from my subconscious mind.

  • Information and Knowledge

Episode 8 of Success and Inner Growth discusses the relationship between information and knowledge. Afterwards, I define the main concepts of the topic. In a next step we have a closer look at relationship between knowledge and information. In the end, I ask how knowledge can help us creating value, thus earning an income.

I organised the main point of today’s discussion into three groups. They are:

    What is information?

    * Our 5 senses as data sources for our brain* From data to information* How the brain filters the datastream coming from our senses* Definition of information* Relevance, timeliness and credibility* The value of information

What is knowledge, and how does it work?

    * Knowledge as a vault of structured and validated information* Limits of absolute truth* Validating information* What kind of data should be admitted into a knowledge vault

Knowledge as a wonderful tool to create value

    * Validating information on demand* Providing context* Asking the right questions* And finally: How knowledge can guide us fromthe confrontation with a disturbing pieces of information to a planned response.
