Kendra Thornton has been packing her bags and traveling the world since she visited the Bahamas at 3 months old. She comes from a family of travel agents and founded Thornton Public Relations LLC in April 2005 in an effort to bring strategic and low cost public relations to start-up and established travel, consumer and technology companies. Ms. Thornton also appears regularly as a travel expert on ABC, CBS, NBC and CW affiliates across the country to share travel trends, tips and deals with millions of viewers every year.

When it comes to summer vacations, everybody loves the beach, right?  But beyond that, men and women have very different thoughts when it comes to their big getaway.  Travel expert Kendra Thornton has details of a new Choice Hotels survey of 1000 US adults and what makes male and female trips so different.

Summer is the time when most of us will hit the road to reunite with friends and family for some good, old fashioned leisure travel.

 

But a new survey indicates that men and women have very different thoughts when it comes to their big getaway.

Life Lessons welcomes author Marty Babits debuting I'm Not A Mind Reader: Using The Power Of Three-Dimensional Communication For A Better Relationship

Every couple confronts issues of communication and too often, because they lack a good foundation, they are communicating in a way that places blame and ultimately damages trust. If addressed in time, effective lines of communication can be opened and the relationship can be saved.   As a relationship therapist Marty Babits provides couples with the necessary tools to effectively communicate, which he calls "three-dimensional communication.” Babits' emphasis on the triad of dimensional communication helps to get couples back on track and develop a more efficient way of communicating with one another.

Babits breaks down the different levels of communication starting with dimension one, which is the literal meaning of what is being communicated. The second dimension is the emotional undertone of the message. The third dimension is the most important because it allows the couple to reflect on what has been said, and consider the meaning behind the other two dimensions in a healthy way. There are many benefits of an activated third dimension such as: mitigating stress, toning down anger, keeping small problems in perspective, and preventing small mishaps from causing ruptures in trust.

Before the concept of three dimensional communication is explained, Babits provides a pre-quiz so that couples can discover what their "three-dimensionality” quotient is.
