Since July 2014, Washington Post Tehran Bureau Chief Jason Rezaian, (rah-zion) has been detained in an Iranian prison. Jason and his wife were arrested in their home in Tehran on charges, which are still not disclosed. His wife has since been released, but Jason, who has dual American-Iranian citizenship, remains held by Iran -- the longest detained Western journalist.

When and how did you learn about Jason’s capture?What can you update us about his current situation? Have you or any family members spoken with Jason since his capture? How can we, the public, help support efforts for his release?

Any indication as to why Jason was targeted as a journalist? Jason is one of many journalists and other citizens unfairly taken hostage and detained overseas. What are you doing to assist with securing his release?Are there talks between our governments to get Jason out of prison

Dancer and entrepreneur Melanie Buttarazzi created an outreach program called Fostering Dreams Through Dance, to empower, educate and inspire foster youth to find their voice through the art of dance. Melanie did it all not knowing what she was doing and learned along the way. With a ton of passion, hard work and no money Melanie brought this program to life.  She had to inspire a lot of people to get them involved for free. Team work made the dream work! 

 

Working with 2 organizations last year, and continuing this year again the initiative:

 Did a 30 day program with First Star Academy at UCLA where the youth performed a flash mob on campus and performed on stage for their commencement. 

 Worked with FreeHab facility where the youth performed a flash mob at Venice Beach and performed for various events. 

Volunteering  at FreeHab for 7 months, Melanie got choreographers to come in as well and be guest speakers. Some were celeb choreographers and they all did it for FREE.  Melanie saw the girls lives change each time she was there and it greatly impacted her own life as well.
