🎙️🇸🇸 ARE WE RAISING LEADERS OR FOLLOWERS? | MAYEN BOL MAYEN | SUDO LEGACY PODCAST
We have educated people, community leaders and organisations. But why are so many of our young people still struggling to find direction?
In this episode of Sudo Legacy with GUDGEN LUKA, we're joined by Mayen Bol Mayen, a Community Leader, Public Speaker, Youth Advocate and Entrepreneur.
Mayen holds postgraduate qualifications in Management, is currently pursuing an MBA, and has a background in leadership, motivational speaking and psychology studies.
But this conversation goes beyond qualifications and titles.
🔥 We dive into some important questions:
🎓 Does education automatically make someone a good leader?
🧠 Why do young people struggle with confidence, direction and purpose?
👨👩👧👦 Are parents and youth truly understanding each other?
🇸🇸 What challenges are holding our South Sudanese community back?
💡 How can we turn knowledge, ideas and motivation into real opportunities?
🌍 And most importantly, what kind of legacy are we building for the next generation?
Leadership. Education. Mindset. Family. Community. Legacy.
This isn't just a conversation for young people. It's for parents, community leaders and anyone who believes our future can be better than our present.
💬 NOW WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU:
Are we preparing the next generation to lead, or are we teaching them to follow?
👇 Share your thoughts in the comments. Let's have a real conversation.

Why is unity so important for Junubin — especially those of us living in Australia and across the diaspora?
In Episode 5 of Sudo Legacy, we talk about something bigger than tribes, communities, age groups and personal differences: our future as one people.
We’ve seen what division can do. We’ve seen pride, old disagreements and mistrust keep people apart. But what could happen if we started putting that same energy into supporting each other, building businesses together, guiding our young people and creating opportunities for the next generation?
Unity doesn’t mean we all have to agree.
It means learning how to disagree without destroying each other.
It means celebrating each other’s success instead of competing against it.
It means remembering that wherever we are in the world, we are still Junubin. 🇸🇸
This conversation is about where our division comes from, what keeps it alive, and most importantly — what WE can do differently.

🎙️ SUDO LEGACY — EPISODE 4Are You Asking the Right Questions Before Starting a Family? Before you get too deep into a relationship or start having children, there are questions you NEED to ask.1\ Is this someone I can genuinely build a future with?2\ Will they be there for our children?3\ Do we share the same values, discipline and vision for family? For many South Sudanese families, single mothers have had to carry the huge responsibility of raising multiple children alone. This isn't about blaming mothers — it's about asking what we can do differently for the next generation.Because choosing the wrong partner doesn't just affect you… it can affect your children and their future. The questions you ask early in a relationship could save you and your future children—from a lifetime of consequences.Watch Episode 4 of Sudo Legacy. You might hear a question you never thought to ask.#SudoLegacy #GudGenLuka #SouthSudanese #Relationships #Family #Fatherhood #motherhood #singlemom #Parenting #southsudanese #realtalk
In this solo episode of Sudo Legacy, I speak from the heart about the challenges facing our South Sudanese community. From the heartbreaking loss of young lives to the division that keeps us apart, this conversation is a call for reflection and action.
Why do we come together in grief but struggle to come together in celebration?
What would happen if we invested the same energy into supporting, mentoring, and uplifting our people while they're still here?
This isn't about blame. It's about responsibility. It's about unity. It's about legacy.
Because when we help you, help me, and help us, we all win.
"When your story is told, will people remember what you achieved, or how many lives you helped change?"
A friendly footy match turned into a battle of pride, nonstop trash talk, and plenty of laughs. But beyond the competition, we reflected on family, community, and the legacy we want to leave for the next generation.
I'm GUD GEN LUKA I started SUDO LEGACY because too many voices go unheard. So I sat down with my nephew for a real conversation, different perspectives, no filters. We spoke about real stuff…how young people want their parents to talk to them, how we can do better…and yeah, we had a few laughs along the way too.Different views, same goal — understanding each other. If you’ve ever felt unheard or misunderstood… this one’s for you.
