This week, we remember Sherri Rasmussen.

Sherri Rasmussen was an American nurse who was found brutally murdered on February 24, 1986 in the apartment she shared with her husband, John Ruetten, in Van Nuys, CA. Sherri’s murder remained unsolved for 23 years following her death, despite a number of frustrating clues and tips provided by her family and friends. Advances in DNA technology would lead us to Sherri’s killer, but we are left to wonder what would have happened if Sherri’s case did not, at least for a period of time, meet the same fate as thousands of unsolved murder cases that were just chalked up to gang activity.
