To be a Christ-follower is to embrace two wildly different ideas: suffering and miracles.  There’s a danger in embracing one to the exclusion of the other.  If we expect suffering without God’s supernatural intervention, then we lose the Great Hope of the Gospel.  If we embrace miracles without any expectation of suffering in this life, then we marginalize God by turning Him into a magic act.
