One of the hardest - and scariest - things that I went through in early motherhood was admitting to myself that I was suffering and needed more help in the form of medication. It took living through a traumatizing event before I accepted that no-one else could help me any more than I was willing to help myself.
There is so much shame and stigma around medication in motherhood. In this episode, I shed some light on my own experience of wanting so badly to heal from Postpartum Depression & Anxiety in a natural, holistic way (without medication) and how detrimental that ended up being for my mental health and for the health and safety of our family. I believed that “good mothers” didn’t need to take medication and yet I hated myself for the way I was showing up in my life as a mama.
