We all know how easy it is to cave into the pressures around us and to the voices around us and not stand up for what it is we claim to believe. When we see conviction in action we stand in awe. Throughout history people of conviction have left their mark. Living in conviction has a way of moving us toward something greater. We look at a character in the Bible who teaches us how to have this kind of conviction and how we can stand strong in that conviction.

Oftentimes we equate knowing God to simply a mental ascent or an understanding of who he is. However in the scriptures, knowing Christ means that we become like Christ. It’s more transformational than it is informational. What does becoming like Christ look like? Is it even possible?

God’s Pursuit of The Runaway (Genesis 28:10-22) It’s not unusual to find ourselves running from God, or even from people sometimes. Maybe we are running out of guilt, fear, self-reliance and many other reasons. Usually, in our run from God or others, we find ourselves isolated and in the dark. But the good news is that we are not alone! Pursuing us is a power greater and more faithful and good than we could ever imagine. Join us as we learn of God’s merciful pursuit for us.

GOD & COUNTRY DAY - What Citizenship is All About. This weekend is God and Country Day! Government is actually God’s idea. He created countries and governments and has told us how to be the best citizens possible. We are grateful to live in such a wonderful country. We will combine God’s Word with the privileges democracy gives us, along with pointers for how to be a great citizen.

Keeping Up Your Guard. Part 4 - My Part and God’s Part In Changing Me (Jude 20-25) The greatest thing that could ever happen to us is that every day we are becoming more and more like Jesus. Sometimes, it certainly doesn’t feel like it and other times we are seeing such great progress in our spiritual growth. What part of that whole change is my responsibility and how do I do it? What part of that change is God’s responsibility and how does He do it? The last part of the Book of Jude explains it to us.

Yet, it is an amazingly powerful book! Jude teaches us to contend for our faith and be on the lookout both inside and outside the church for those who would lead us down the wrong path. We face the erosion of moral truth of scripture within our culture today, but we also need to be on the watch for things inside the church that can compromise The Faith. Learning how to keep up our guard is what the Book of Jude is all about.

It wouldn’t be surprising. It is a tiny one chapter book seemingly hidden toward the end of the New Testament. Though tiny, it packs a punch.
