In the late 1980s-1990’s, the word “rave” was adopted to describe the subculture that grew out of the acid house movement. Also around that same time that Dave later to be known as DJ SugarD hit the underground house music scene. Immediately hooked on the music, the vibe, the groove and culture of House music. It was 1993 that Sugar D got his first big break in Sacramento with his friend Guy Nado a.k.a. DJ Rasoul spinning at Faces at a weekly club called Virgin Mary.
After successfully establishing a name for himself in the state capital and surrounding areas, Dave set his sights on San Francisco and eventually moved there in 1994, and continued to build his reputation as a stellar DJ for the next 2 years. During his time in The Bay , Sugar D played at some of the biggest name clubs such as The End Up, Sound Factory, Big Heart City, and 1015 Folsom.
In 1996 while on a tour of Europe DJ Sugar D landed a residency playing at a club in Paris, after which he returned to his hometown of Sacramento where he continues to play special guest sets at some of the most exclusive underground Raves and Clubs from Sacramento to the bay.
