We hopped on a plane and crossed the country to MagicCon Chicago! Bones' cosplay crunch strikes again but I was able to steal here away for a fantastic conversation on the role of Player Agency in MTG. Every person who sits down to play wants to have an impact on the game. As a new player, how do we communicate as to feel seen and heard by others at the table? And for my fellow experienced players, how are we holding space for new players to feel on equal footing with everyone else? In this episode we dive into the four elements of player agency. This week we are continuing the conversation of deckbuilding this time talking about staples in edh. How can staples inform new players as well as limit creativity in our abilities as Magic players. Staples often come at a premium, does that mean I should proxy? Bones and I take a look at the role of powerful cards in Magic: the Gathering and how we can approach them as casual players in the Commander format.
