In light of the recent school shooting, it was said that the shooter may have reached out to inform a friend that they were going to die that day. The news stations reporting this suggest that maybe the shooter was suicidal. This isn't an excuse nor does that statement justify what she did.  It does however, open up the topic for discussion.
