Today is the day to do that summary.
Let’s start with the verse memorized during the week in Mark 10:45: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
On Sunday, we learned about God’s plan for marriage. God celebrated the first marriage. Thus, this institution has as its originator the creator of the universe. Jesus performed his first miracle at a wedding. Therefore, he told the world that marriage is sacred when pure and undefiled. When divine principles are recognized and obeyed, marriage is a blessing. Because it preserves the purity and happiness of the human race, it provides for the social needs of the human being and elevates the physical, intellectual, and moral nature.
On Monday, we saw that in Jesus’ day, children were left in the background. But Jesus took them in his arms to bless them and more. Jesus said that if we want to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, we must become like children.
On Tuesday, we learned that the most significant investment in life is what we invest in eternal life. The story of the rich young man has lessons for everyone, rich and poor alike. It teaches that we can attain eternal life through Christ and His grace.
On Wednesday, we had James and John’s request that they sit on the right and left of Jesus in the Kingdom of God. But Jesus indicated that God establishes the places of Glory. We learned that power is used to edify and bless others in the Kingdom of God. Jesus was the first to practice this teaching as King of the Kingdom of God, but how did he do it? By giving his life as a ransom! But that was not what his followers expected to hear.
And yesterday, we saw that while he was demon-possessed in Gadara, Jesus sent him back home. Blind Bartimaeus followed Jesus. Interestingly, when he approached Jesus, the man threw his cloak aside or away. At that time, blind people occupied the lower part of society, along with widows and orphans. They were below the subsistence level and faced real danger. The cloak, however, represented the man’s and blind man’s safety. Leaving it behind meant he had faith, that faith that Jesus would heal him, and Jesus did not disappoint. All who came to him for help were welcomed and blessed.
