(v. 24) “refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,”John 10:3–5[NIV] 3 The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice."1.(v. 4) = “know his voice” = “belonging…devoted to” from the root word meaning “family” (Ibid.) “family means no one gets left behind” (Lilo and Stitch)2.knowing = followingb.Second picture of Spiritual maturity, when we are “grown up” we will sacrifice! (vv. 25–26)i. “fleeting” / “passing” = “for a season” (The NAS…)1.“This is what you were made for!” (John Piper)2.ii.“disgrace” / “reproach” = “of underserved reproach…shame”Galatians 3:13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."iii.“d.Fourth picture of Spiritual maturity, when we are “grown up” we have a vision! (“he was looking ahead to his reward”)i.3. Application: “This is what we were made for!” (John Piper)a.“wrath and perfection” (Piper)Leviticus 9:23–2423 Moses and Aaron then went into the tent of meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people; and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people. 24 Fire came out from the presence of the LROD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown. i.In reading through my Quiet Time, the HOLY SPIRIT showed me that the reason Moses and Aaron were not consumed…because the sacrifice was! There has to be a sacrifice!
