Jamey Nettles | At this point in Mark’s gospel, Jesus is beginning to teach more explicitly the way of his Kingdom. “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.” But his disciples still fail to understand the nature of the Kingdom, and proceed to argue about who is going to be the greatest in this new system. Jesus, as the wise Teacher he is, uses this opportunity to teach a lesson to his followers about what true greatness actually is.

Jamey Nettles | As we jump back into our Mark series, we see that trust and faith in King Jesus, the king of this new Kingdom, is what is required to see God’s resurrecting power bring forth life. But unlike we often think, it is not primarily about the amount of faith and trust we possess. As we see in this story, it is all about the amount of power possessed by the One in whom our faith is in.

Here at Summit Crossing, we desire to equip every member and regular attender to be discipled and make disciples in every aspect of life.

This week, we look at the role of disciple-making in the life of the church, what a disciple actually is, and the purpose of a disciple. To be a disciple of Jesus is much more than simply obeying his teachings as a new sort of moral code. It is experiencing a transformed heart that leads to a life lived solely for the purpose of seeing God’s glory spread to the ends of the earth.

Jamey Nettles | Because of our union with Christ, we have been given a new identity. This week we will explore that identity, as we are made children to God our Father, servants to King Jesus, and sent out by the Spirit to be missionaries in the world around us. A proper understanding this beautiful trinitarian identity will necessarily change the way we live as a community of Jesus followers.
